Guardamar del Segura

Guardamar del Segura, bathed by the Segura River, with its eleven kilometers of blue flag beach, its infrastructure for the practice of water sports and its vast offer of accommodation, is an important tourist destination.

The city offers a beautiful landscape of sandy beaches surrounded by a vast pine forest, planted in the early twentieth century, to protect the dune cordon. Today, the beach protected by the pine forest is presented as a paradise for swimming, with its white sand dunes and warm, clear waters.

The most cosmopolitan beaches are: Centro and Roqueta, and the wildest and loneliest are: El Campo, Las Ortiguas and Els Tossals also called " Los Tusales " where you can practice nudism. The beaches offer very good services for which a quality label has been awarded. There are also the beaches of Los Viveros, Babilonia Beach, Moncayo Beach.
Its facilities offer many opportunities for water activities such as sailing, windsurfing, water skiing and canoeing. The practice of golf is possible, because within a radius of twenty kilometers is no less than five golf courses, the closest being the area of "Campo de Golf la Marquesa" and its 18 holes.

The Segura River flows into the sea in the beautiful landscape of " La Gola del Segura " where the marina and fishing port " Marina de Las Dunas " is located. South of Guardamar is the Natural Park " Laguna de La Mata ", a vast wetland and seabird reserve that is definitely worth a visit.

For leisure, hiking or cycling, there are natural areas such as the "Ribera del Segura" and the "Parque Alfonso XIII " and many thematic routes where nature and culture combine.

For lovers of ancient history, you can visit the Municipal Archaeological and Ethnological Museum and the Mira Engineer's House-Museum. The sites of " The Rabita Caliphate " and " Phoenicia Factory " or Archaeological Museum of Ethnology and Paleontology are two sites of cultural interest.
